Board of Appeals Seeking Members

The Town is seeking residents to serve on the Board of Appeals. There are openings for both regular members and alternate members.

Governance and duties:

The Board of Appeals is set up under Article 17 of the Clifton Land Use Ordinance. It hears appeals of decisions made by the Code Enforcement Officer and the Planning Board, and decides requests for variances from the Land Use Ordinance. The Board meets as needed, mainly when an appeal or variance request are received.

About the position:

• Volunteer position, appointed by the Select Board
• Three-year terms
• The Board has five regular members and two alternates. Alternates step in when a regular member is absent or has a conflict of interest.
• No experience is required. Familiarity with land use, zoning, construction, real estate, or similar areas is preferred.
